Free download PC Game : Aliens Versus Predator 2 - Primal Hunt

Primal Hunt, the first expansion pack for last year's excellent Aliens Versus Predator 2, will take you around six hours to finish. But it's hard to fault Primal Hunt for its length. For better or worse, 20 bucks for every six hours of gameplay is about average for a modern shooter. However, the expansion doesn't manage to squeeze any memorable settings, set pieces, story elements, or surprises of any kind into those six hours. The single-player campaign is frustrating and boring in equal measures, and nothing really noteworthy has been added to the multiplayer game, so you can feel free to hold all that against it.

As in the original, the expansion features separate human, alien, and predator campaigns (three levels for each) that all intersect at certain points. Primal Hunt feels like a retread of segments from Aliens Versus Predator 2, but without that game's novelty, great pacing, or skillfully executed action sequences. On top of that, while the new developers at Third Law have copied Monolith's design, they haven't done it closely enough, and they generally screw up the parts that worked in the original.

For example: In both Aliens Versus Predator 2 and Primal Hunt, the first alien mission involves scurrying through the level as a face hugger attempting to find a suitable host. The original made this into a sort of interactive cutscene with a clear but cleverly camouflaged path through it. Primal Hunt, on the other hand, attempts to turn it into more of an action sequence with dismal results. In the original, you had to avoid humans, whose overheard conversations not only added some color to the mission but also gave you an indication of what they were likely to do, so you could plan when to move and when to stay hidden. In Primal Hunt, you're avoiding predators, who communicate using uninteresting and indecipherably monotonous shrieks. The level consists of avoiding the apparently arbitrary movements of these predators while searching for the often disguised cracks and vents that will lead you to the next section of the ship. The humans in the original were all either unreachable or in tight groups, making them clearly unsuitable targets for face-hugging. In Primal Hunt, it's entirely possible for a solitary predator to get separated from its pack, at which point you can pounce on it and attach yourself to its head. But unless it's the single correct target at the end of the level, you'll simply die, even though, by all appearances, you've successfully face-hugged a victim. There's one rigidly enforced path through the level, but the design is so sloppy that it becomes a save-and-reload drill as you try to figure out exactly what the developers want you to do.

For the human marine campaign, Primal Hunt eliminates the creeping dread of the best parts of the original and instead focuses on an extended running battle. Rather than setting up some cunning action sequences, the game primarily relies on one trick used over and over again--dropping aliens either right on top of your head or right behind you. This is especially frustrating both because the humans are so fragile and because their weapons are primarily useful at medium to long range. Your survival ultimately hinges on saving and reloading enough to memorize where the aliens are coming from at any point, turning the entire human campaign into a grim, futuristic homework assignment. Conversely, the predator's levels are the most consistently entertaining in the game, though not because any one thing stands out as surprisingly good, but simply because nothing in them is especially bad.

The graphics and sound are all about the same as in the original. Most of the environments, in fact, appear to be taken almost directly from Aliens Versus Predator 2. Three new monsters have been added, though they all look too goofy and cartoonlike for their surroundings. As sort of an acknowledgement of their weakness, two of them are really utilized only once or twice. The third--a big worm that, in a really annoying reversal of the developer's alien strategy, arbitrarily pops up from directly beneath your feet--is used too often.

Four completely undistinguished multiplayer maps are included in the expansion. No new game types have been created, and none of the four maps can be used in the overrun or evac modes. The humans get a new short-range 360-degree motion detector, a double pistol, and mountable turrets, the predators get an unexciting fléchette gun and a really underpowered suicide detonation attack, and the predaliens can now bite heads. None of these subtle changes will make an impression on anyone but the most hard-core Aliens Versus Predator players.

Improbably, Primal Hunt suffers from copying the original both too much and not enough. The original Aliens Versus Predator 2 was a much better game, and you'd be better off going back and playing it again instead.

Free game Download : War/flight simulator game

I'm not a major gamer, but I do enjoy playing the occassional war/flight simulator game on my laptop. This one did not disappoint. No problems installing on my Vista Dual Core with 1 GB Ram and basic Dell laptop video card, which is way more computer than the "recommend system requirements" on the box. For the price, I didn't expect too much. This game will surprise you with what you get for your investment, though. Several aircraft, easy control with mouse and keyboard (although you can also use joysticks, etc.) Music's very corny, but you can turn it off. Recommend that you have a nicer video card than the "standard" system graphics card as the scenery may be a bit choppy otherwise. Overall, great value. Several levels of difficulty. Easy to learn, but not easy to master (which means you won't be done with it the same day you buy it). The more missions you fly, the harder and more interesting they get. Fun game. Beats the heck out of my other "time killer" games on the PC platform.

Free pc Game - Airstrike II: Gulf Thunder

Airstrike II: Gulf Thunder is a classic overhead shooter in which you pilot one of three assault helicopters against an entrenched army of terrorists. The game's chock-full of bells and whistles, including many different types of cannons, missiles, and tertiary ordinances, a great variety of enemy craft, and boss fights. Dropping a tactical nuke on an enemy SAM site and then watching a couple of enemy pickups get crushed by the resulting pressure wave is sure to put a smile on your face. Furthermore, the game looks very sharp on its highest graphical settings, thanks to its smooth 3D models and various lighting effects. The sound effects, while generic, are varied enough to enhance the onscreen action. Your punitive military action is also accompanied by a couple of pulsating Euro-dance tracks. Airstrike 2 boils the shooter genre down to its fundamentals--plenty of weapons, nimble aircraft, and lots of explosions. If you like action games, you'll find at least $20 worth of entertainment here.

Free download PC Game : Age Of Wonder

Age of Wonders is one of the more revered PC turn-based strategy game series among strategy game purists, and the newest addition to its line, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic (AoWSM), does nothing but reinforce that deserving reverence. Although it uses essentially the same 2D/pseudo-3D game-engine and graphics as last year's Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's Throne, AoWSM isn't an expansion pack for that game.

Instead, it's a completely stand-alone title that adds an enticing new chapter to the Age of Wonders story with new races and includes plenty of features to keep series fans completely happy exploring the adventures of mythical wizards and heroes in the realm of Merlin's magical kingdom.

AoWSM's storyline takes place immediately after the events of AoWII, making this a sequel of sorts. The legendary mighty wizard Merlin's magical influence has created a unified dreamland for all to enjoy.

Alas, that unity hasn't lasted long as now demons from the murky Shadow Realm under the control of the evil and nefarious Phobius have imprisoned Merlin himself in their shadowy, dangerous reality. You will be able assume the role of a choice of mythical wizard-heroes to stop Phobius by rescuing Merlin and restoring peace and tranquility to the world.

To help defeat Phobius, a plethora of new features make an appearance in AoWSM. First off, three new races join the Age of Wonders: Nomads, Shadow Demons, and Syrons.

Dozens of the Age of Wonders roster of classic races have also been updated with new units and a city upgrade for each. AoWSM includes 16 new long-lasting gameplay-packed scenarios covering five episodes in the single-player mode.

Once you've completed the entire five episodic adventures, you can create your very own scenarios with the editing tools included. These editing tools and the random map generator assure that Age of Wonders aficionados will never run out of AoWSM quests to partake in. AoWSM also has plenty of online gameplay options, including playing a game via e-mail, for up to eight players at once.

Admittedly, I'm not a huge turn-based strategy gaming fan. I prefer the melee frenzy of Blizzard-style real-time strategy classics such as the warcraft series that require less thinking and more aggressive on-the-fly battle instincts. AoWSM is a good game as turn-based strategy games go, however, playing out like a fine and thought-provocative game of chess with its gameplay, requiring thoughtful movement planning. I'll warn you that this slower-paced gameplay may be a little sleepy-time inducing for players more accustomed to hardcore WarCraft-type action in their strategy games.

Not that there isn't plenty of scraps to be fought in the war against the Shadow Realm denizens. But be prepared to use your old noggin for a lot of tactical plotting instead of simply relying on your character and supporting forces muscle to defeat the followers of Phobius.

That well-devised strategy will come in handy too, because this isn't an easy game to play. AoWSM's challenge level can strike heavy and hard if you go into gameplay sessions thinking lightly of your opposition's chances of defeating you. Expect to spend an all-nighter-worthy manual study session to learn the nuances of playing the game and understanding all the varied controls of AoWSM. There's a lot of information that Merlin's manual needs to impart to you in order to grasp a working knowledge of how to play.

Thankfully, for players new to the Age of Wonders series including AoWII, there's a tutorial level available to teach you how to move around and also flip through numerous gameplay menus.

Besides reading the manual, make sure your spectacles are handy if you need them, because you'll be doing plenty of on-screen reading during the game scrolling through various menus and when encountering new characters appearing in your path.

This game does use the same gameplay engine as its series predecessor, AoWII, so don't expect today's cutting-edge PC visuals. The environmental graphics are appealingly vivid, but the game's wizards, warriors, and creature character models aren't exactly DOOM III quality in their detail. One big problem I had with the isometric 2D game camera was that it was relatively easy to lose your character's placement in the deep forestry and thick bushes on some levels, which was disorienting and distracting. Calming your nerves from character loss is the melodic music that wafts through the
air of your magical adventures, setting a just-right mood for playing a fantasy strategy game.

Series devotees will find plenty of reason to step out from the shadows of late summer frolicking to play AoWSM. The new races added to Age of Wonders already fantastic fantasy world and a host of customizable campaign and level editors means that fans of turn-based strategy will never have to play the same missions twice. Not even Merlin himself could conjure up a more endless gameplay opportunity than that.
